NAY, but consider the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
