In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And pollution shun. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
