Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 to an orphaned relative 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
