The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a mighty day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
