Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
