By the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 As a warning unto men, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 in Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
