The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a great day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
