The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
