The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
