The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
