The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
