S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an, 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 This is just one of the disgraced armies, that will be routed there and then. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
