When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 "Did we not restrain you," they said, "from (entertaining) creatures from the outside world?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
