A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers). 2 Follow that which is sent down to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians other than Him; little do you remember. 3 And how many a [rebellious] community have We destroyed, with Our punishment coming upon it by night, or while they were resting at noontide! 4 And when Our punishment came upon them, they had nothing to say for themselves, and could only cry, "Verily, we were wrongdoers!" 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 We settled you on the earth, and provided means of livelihood for you in it; but little are the thanks you give. 10
