Verily We created you and gave you form and shape, and ordered the angels to bow before Adam in homage; and they all bowed but Iblis who was not among those who bowed. 11 Said He, 'What prevented thee to bow thyself, when I commanded thee?' Said he, 'I am better than he; Thou createdst me of fire, and him Thou createdst of clay.' 12 (Allah) said: "Get thee down from this: it is not for thee to be arrogant here: get out, for thou art of the meanest (of creatures)." 13 He said: Respite me until the day when they are raised up. 14 and God replied, "You are granted respite." 15 he answered: 'Because You have caused me to go astray, I will waylay them as they walk on Your Straight Path, 16 “Then I will certainly approach them – from their front and from behind them and from their right and from their left; and You will find most of them not thankful.” 17 He said, "Get out of here, despised, and rejected! I shall fill Hell with all of those who follow you." 18 And; O Adam: dwell thou and thy spouse in the Garden and eat ye twain thereof whence ye will, and approach not yonder tree lest ye twain become of the wrong-doers. 19 Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said: "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals." 20 And he swore to them, 'Truly, I am for you a sincere adviser.' 21 So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, "Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?" 22 They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers." 23 He said, “Go down, one of you is a foe unto the other; and for a fixed time you shall stay on earth and feed in it.” 24 He said, “You shall live there and there shall you die, and from there only you will be raised.” 25
