۞ And to 'Ad We sent forth their brother Hud. He said: 'O my people! Serve Allah; you have no other god than Him. Will you, then, not avoid evil?' 65 Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, 'We see thee in folly, and we think that thou art one of the liars.' 66 He said: O my people! There is no foolishness in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds. 67 “I convey to you the messages of my Lord and am your trustworthy well-wisher.” 68 Marvel ye that an admonition from your Lord should come unto you upon a man from amongst you in order that he may warn you? Remember what time He made you successors after the people of Nuh, and increased you amply in stature. Remember the benefits of Allah, that haply ye may fare well. 69 They said: "You have come to us that we should worship Allah Alone and forsake that which our fathers used to worship. So bring us that wherewith you have threatened us if you are of the truthful." 70 [Hud] said, "Already have defilement and anger fallen upon you from your Lord. Do you dispute with me concerning [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has not sent down any authority? Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait." 71 And We saved him and those with him by a mercy from Us, and We cut the root of those who denied Our revelations and were not believers. 72
