۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 But when He vouchsafes them a healthy child, they attribute to Him partners regarding what Allah had bestowed upon them. Subliminally exalted is Allah above that which they associate with Him. 190 What! they associate (with Him) that which does not create any thing, while they are themselves created! 191 And they have no power to give them help, nor can they help themselves. 192 And if you call them to true guidance, they will not follow you. It is all the same for you whether you call them to true guidance or keep silent. 193 Indeed those whom you (the disbelievers) worship besides Allah are slaves like you – so call them and they may answer you, if you are truthful! 194 Have they feet to walk with? Have they hands to hold with? Have they eyes to see with? Have they ears to hear with? Say, "Call upon those you associate with God as partners, then all of you contrive against me and give me no respite. 195 My Guardian is Allah, who has sent down the Book. He guards the righteous. 196 Those whom you invoke, other than Him, cannot help you, nor can they help themselves' 197 And if you were to call them to true guidance, they will not hear; and you observe them looking at you whereas they have no power to see.' 198 Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 And if there prompt thee a prompting from the Satan, seek refuge with Allah; verily He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Verily those who fear God think of Him when assailed by the instigations of Satan, and lo! they begin to understand, 201 while their brethren ceaselessly try to drag them into error. 202 And yet, when thou [O Prophet] dost not produce any miracle for them, some [people] say: "Why dost thou not seek to obtain it [from God]? Say: "I only follow whatever is being revealed to me by my Sustainer: this [revelation] is a means of insight from your Sustainer, and a guidance and grace unto people who will believe. 203 Whenever the Quran is recited (to you), listen to it quietly so that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember thou thy Lord within thyself with humility and fear, without loudness in word, in the morning and evenings; and be thou not of the negligent. 205 Those who are near to your Lord do not disdain from worshipping Him. They glorify Him and prostrate themselves (in obedience to Him). ۩ 206
