Joseph (Yousuf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of a Book that clearly expounds the truth. 1 Indeed We have sent down an Arabic Qur’an, so that you may perceive. 2 We narrate to you the best of narratives, by Our revealing to you this Quran, though before this you were certainly one of those who did not know. 3 When Joseph said to his father: 'Father, I saw eleven planets, and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating themselves before me' 4 [Jacob] replied: "O my dear son! Do not relate thy dream to thy brothers lest [out of envy] they devise an evil scheme against thee; verily, Satan is man's open foe! 5 And thus will thy Lord choose thee and teach thee of the interpretation of discourses, and will fulfil His favour upon thee and upon the house of Y'aqub even as He fulfilled it upon thy fathers, Ibrahim and Is-haq aforetime; verily thy Lord is Knowing, Wise. 6
