When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
