He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 So you are after him! 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
