Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
KAF HA YA 'AIN SAD. 1 Commemorate the beneficence of your Lord on Zachariah, His devotee, 2 when he called upon his Lord in secret, 3 He said: O my Lord! verily the bones of me have waxen feeble, and the head is glistening with hoariness, and have not yet been in my prayer to thee, my Lord, unblest. 4 “And I fear my relatives after me and my wife is barren therefore bestow upon me from Yourself one who will take up my work.” 5 Inheriting me and inheriting the Children of Ya'qub; and make him, my Lord, acceptable! 6 (He was told): "Zechariah, We bring you the good news of the birth of a son whose name shall be Yahya (John), one whose namesake We never created before." 7 He said: "My Lord! How can I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme old age." 8 (The angel) said, "This is true, but your Lord says, 'For Me it is easy; I created you when you did not exist". 9 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign”; He said, “Your token is that you will not speak to people for three nights, although in proper health.” 10 Then he came forth to his people from the sanctuary, and he beckoned unto them. hallow your Lord morning and evening. 11 (And it was said unto his son): O John! Hold fast the Scripture. And we gave him wisdom when a child, 12 And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant. 14 And peace on him on the day he was born, and on the day he dies, and on the day he is raised to life 15
