In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
KAF HA YA 'AIN SAD. 1 A mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zakariya. 2 When he called out his Lord (Allah) a call in secret, 3 He said: "Lord! My bones have grown feeble and my head is glistening with age; yet, never have my prayers to You, my Lord, been unfruitful. 4 I fear evil from my kinsmen after I am gone; and my wife is barren, so grant me an heir out of Your special grace, 5 Who shall inherit of me and inherit (also) of the house of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, acceptable (unto Thee). 6 (His prayer was answered): "O Zakariya! We give thee good news of a son: His name shall be Yahya: on none by that name have We conferred distinction before." 7 He submitted, “My Lord – how can I have a son whereas my wife is barren and I have reached infirmity due to old age?” 8 He said: So shall it be, your Lord says: It is easy to Me, and indeed I created you before, when you were nothing. 9 He said: my Lord appoint for me a sign. Allah said: thy sign is that thou shalt not speak unto mankind for three nights, while sound. 10 Thereupon he came out of the sanctuary unto his people and signified to them [by gestures]: "Extol His limitless glory by day and by night!" 11 (We said): 'O John, hold fast to the Book', and We bestowed on him judgment while yet a child 12 as well as, by Our grace, [the gift of] compassion and purity; and he was [always] conscious of Us 13 kind to his parents, not arrogant or a rebellious person. 14 Peace be on him on the day of his birth, and on the day of his death, and peace will be on him on the day he is raised up to life again. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
