The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
