But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 And indeed those devils prevent them from the Straight Path, and they think they are on guidance! 37 Until when he comes before Us he will say (to the devil): "Would to God there was a distance of the East and West between you and me, for you were an evil companion!" 38 When ye have done wrong, it will avail you nothing, that Day, that ye shall be partners in Punishment! 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 Even if We take you away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 Rather We will certainly show you that which We have promised them; for surely We are the possessors of full power over them. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. You are truly on the right path. 43 The (Qur'an) is indeed the message, for thee and for thy people; and soon shall ye (all) be brought to account. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
