Aaron had already told them, "O my people! You are only being tested by this. Your Lord is the All Merciful, so follow me and obey my command." 90 They said: we shall by no means cease to be assiduous to it until there returneth to us Musa. 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 "O son of my mother," (Aaron cried), do not pull me by my beard or my hair! I was really afraid you may say that I had created a rift among the children of Israel, and did not pay heed to your command." 94 (Moses) said: And what hast thou to say, O Samiri? 95 He said: I perceived what they perceive not, so I seized a handful from the footsteps of the messenger, and then threw it in. Thus my soul commended to me. 96 Moses said, "Go away! Throughout your life you will not be able to let anyone touch you. This will be your punishment in this life. The time for your final punishment is inevitable. You will never be able to avoid it. Look at your god which you have been worshipping. We will burn it in the fire and scatter its ashes into the sea." 97 “Your God is only Allah – other than for Whom there is no worship; His knowledge encompasses all things.” 98 Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence. 99 Whoever turns away from it, will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. 100 They will abide in that (state in the Fire of Hell), and evil indeed will it be that load for them on the Day of Resurrection; 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]." 103 We know well what they will say when the most upright among them will say: "You did not tarry more than a day." 104
