The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ NEAR HAS COME the reckoning for men, but they turn away in remissness. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
