Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the luminious Book. 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 On which all affairs are sorted out and decided 4 A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of apostles), 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. 7 There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers. 8 Nay, but they play in doubt. 9 Wait, then, for the Day when the sky brings forth plainly visible clouds of smoke. 10 covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. 11 [They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." 12 But how will they avail themselves of the Reminder, when a clear Messenger had already come to them 13 Then they turned away from him and said, "He is a madman, taught by others!" 14 Verily We shall remove the torment for a while; but verily ye shall revert. 15 On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. 16 ۞ AND, INDEED, [long] before their time did We try Pharaoh's people [in the same way]: for there came unto them a noble apostle, [who said:] 17 Saying: restore to me the bondmen of Allah, verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 18 and do not exalt yourselves in defiance of Allah. I have come to you with a clear authority (as a Messenger). 19 I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you should attack me with stones. 20 But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone." 21 Then he called to his Lord: "These are a sinful people." 22 God said, "Set out with My servants by night, for you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” 24 How many were the gardens and springs they left behind, 25 And cornfields and goodly positions. 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. 29
