And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 And said: "Should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?" 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
