And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
