And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error." 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 "And none misled us but the guilty." 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
