۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
