So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 Now, ask them, has your Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
