The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
