And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 (We commanded him): “Stamp your foot on earth, and here is cool water to wash with and to drink.” 42 We gave him back his family and doubled their number as a blessing from Us and as a reminder to the people of understanding. 43 And (it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (to his Lord). 44 And remember Our servants Ibrahim and Ishaq and Yaqoub, men of power and insight. 45 We indeed gave them distinction with a genuine affair – the remembrance of the (everlasting) abode. 46 Indeed with Us they are among the chosen, the excellent. 47 Also, remember our worshipers Ishmael, Elisha, and ThulKifl, they are among the good. 48 This is an advice; and indeed for the pious is an excellent abode. 49 The gardens of perpetuity, the doors are opened for them. 50 Reclining on pillows, in it they ask for fruits and drinks in plenty. 51 ۞ They will have bashful wives of equal age with them. 52 This is the promise being given to you, for the Day of Reckoning. 53 Most surely this is Our sustenance; it shall never come to an end; 54 But the arrogant will have the worst return: 55 Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the resting place. 56 This is so! Then let them taste it, a boiling fluid and dirty wound discharges. 57 And other (punishment) of the same kind-- of various sorts. 58 'This is a troop rushing in with you; there is no Welcome for them; they shall roast in the Fire.' 59 They will say to them, "You are not welcome! It was you who brought this on us, an evil place to stay," 60 They say: Our Lord! Whoever did prepare this for us, oh, give him double portion of the Fire! 61 And they will say: "What is the matter with us that we see not men whom we used to count among the bad ones?" 62 [and] whom we made the target of our derision? Or are they here, and our eyes have missed them?" 63 Truly that is just and fitting,- the mutual recriminations of the People of the Fire! 64
