۞ And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example). 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He is purely a bondman (of Ours), whom We have favoured upon, and We made him an extraordinary example for the Descendants of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 Let satan not prevent you from the right path. He is your sworn enemy". 62 When Jesus came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 63 Assuredly God is my Lord and your Lord; therefore serve Him; this is a straight path.' 64 But certain groups created differences among themselves. Woe to the unjust. They will face a painful torment. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
