Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
