Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And placing it before them said: "Won't you eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
