The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the mount. 1 and a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 none can avert that. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
