The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the House inhabited 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
