The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
