The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for those on the Right, 38
