The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And never have We destroyed any community [for its wrongdoing] unless a divine writ had [previously] been made known to it; 4 Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 They would not believe in it (the Quran), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 They will say all the same: "Our eyes were dazed (and clouded over). We were a people ensorcelled." 15
