The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
