The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
