Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a high garden 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
