Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
