Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
