The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
