The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
