The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
